Overview
Taking a three-day desert tour through the desert dunes in Merzouga means spending ten hours by car from Merzouga to Marrakech. For this reason, we recommend a minimum stay of 4 days for a desert excursion from Marrakech to the desert. Interrupt the journey in any direction and to visit the sights along the way.
Four days trip from Marrakech to Sahara of Merzouga and back to Marrakech is one of the best tours recommended because there is a lot to see. Itinerary:
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Dades gorge
We start our tours from Marrakech to the desert in the morning by crossing High Atlas mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka (2260m), to reach to Ait Benhaddou village, the fortified ksar with its beautiful Kasbahs. Ait Benhaddou has served as a natural scenery for many movies producers. After lunch, we will head to Dades via Ouarzazate, palm grove of Skoura and Valley of Roses, where we will spend the first night.
Day 2: Dades Gorge – Todra Gorge -Erfoud – Risani- Merzouga
After breakfast, the day will start to visit Dades gorges by taking the road of 1000 kasbahs to drive around the colourful Berber villages of the Dades valley. To get to Tineghir with its beautiful palm grove. We will continue to the Gorge of Todgha, where we go on a trek along the canyons of about 300 m high, a preferred place of mountain climbers. Afterwards, we will head to Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga Sahara desert, and you will have time for lunch on our way. Once you arrive at the Dunes of Erg Chebbi, you will take a camel ride for one h30 min, while watching the sunset, to get to the camp in the oasis. Spending the night in the bivouac at Merzouga Sahara dunes under nomadic tents or outside under shooting stars. Play drums with camel drivers.
Day 3: Merzouga
The third day on this intrepid tour of the Moroccan desert will see us enjoy Merzouga. After having breakfast at the hotel, you will have the opportunity to swim in the hotel pool, free time to explore the activities. There are plenty of activities like quad biking, buggy riding across the dunes and biking, but these will be at your own expense
DAY 4: MERZOUGA –MARRAKECH
There is a long drive of around 9 hours ahead of us as we drive back to Marrakech. Continue to Marrakech with a detour to the traditional High Atlas Berber village of Telouet and visit the Kasbah el Glaoui and crossing the high Atlas mountain.
