Overview
The three-day trip through the desert from Marrakech to Merzouga is our most popular tour through the Moroccan desert. This desert safari is perfect for those who want to discover the deep Sahara in Morocco and don’t want to drive long. The tour is full of landscapes; You will never be bored because you are admiring one scene after another. The dramatic change in scenery is fantastic. From the fertile plains of Haouz to Marrakech up to the High Atlas and then to different valleys and oases. Rocky highlands at the end, followed by the impressive dunes of Erg Chebbi. The highlight of our three-day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga is the sunset camel ride and night-time sleep under the stars in the Bedouin Sahara desert camp.
Itinerary:
DAY 1: MARRAKECH – Ouarzazate – DADES VALLEY
The desert tours start from Marrakech to Merzouga early in the morning with a journey east of Marrakech through the High Atlas. The driver will stop for you to take pictures, enjoy the view, and drink a cup of coffee.
Take a winding road up to the famous Tizi Nitschka pass before reaching the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, which is now the first major station to visit the city. Fortified by the Berbers, the town of Ait Ben Haddou is a UNESCO memorial and is also known as the appropriate venue for the great Hollywood epics, to name just a few of the few films that the city has made: Kingdom of the Heavens, Lawrence Of Arabia and Gladiator, they cross the river that separates the Kasbah from the main road and explore the village as you wish.
After lunch in a local restaurant, head to the Dades valley towards Ouarzazate, the Oasis of Skoura, the agents of Maghouna, and is famous for its artisan distillation of rosewater. When you arrive in Bumallen Dades, follow the Dades River along a small path that runs along many fortified reeds that line the roadside to the Dades Canyon. You will arrive at your hotel in the late afternoon.
Day 2: Dades Gorges – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Dunes)
After an excellent breakfast in the hotel, the day will start in Dades to the dunes of Merzouga. Merzouga is famous for the Erg Shebby dunes or the most common dunes with more than 100 kilometers of land in Merzoug. Enjoy a half-camel ride through the beautiful dunes of Erg Shebby and enjoy the sunset view, offering a beautiful and unique view of the world. The second night, a temporary stay under the stars after a traditional dinner on fire.
Day 3: Merzouga – Ouarzazate – Marrakech (9 hours drive)
After the magnificent sunrise, enjoy a typical breakfast and take a camel ride back to Merzouga. Admire the beautiful landscapes of the Sahara, oasis, palm groves, and green valleys Back to Marrakech.
