Itinerary for 10 Days Desert Tour To Imperial Cities from Casablanca
day 1: airport – Casablanca
Your private Morocco tour begins with the transfer from the airport to your hotel in Casablanca. Your visit to the travel site today depends on your time of arrival. If time permits, we can explore a handful of attractions in Casablanca, such as the Hassan II Mosque, the Grand Maghreb, and the nearby beach.
day 2: Casablanca – Meknes – Volubilis – Fez
This morning we can finish the attractions of Casablanca, which were not allowed by the weather on the first day. After lunch in Medina, we head to Meknes, the old imperial city surrounded by one of the most prestigious wine regions of Morocco. After a short break in Meknes, we will lead to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. You have time to explore the monuments and mosaics on your own or hire a local guide. So we continue to Fez, where we will spend the night in a local riad/hotel.
Day 3: explore the city of Fez with guides
Today, it is dedicated to tourism in Fez, the spiritual capital of Morocco. The Medieval town, carpenter’s fountain, Moulay Idriss mausoleum, and Al-Qarawiyyin mosque (outside visits only). You can have lunch in a traditional restaurant in the heart of the old city, and after an afternoon, visit the souks and a new Fez (Nueva Fee), and return to your hotel.
day 4: Fez – Ifrane – Midelt – Erfoud – Risani – Merzouga Desert
Today we will go to Ifrane after breakfast. Ifrane is known as “Switzerland, Morocco.” We continue towards Midelt then pass the Ziz valley to reach the city of Erfoud. Erfoud is famous for its local fossil products. It is also possible to stop and get to know the region and the fossils better. After Erfoud, we headed to the ancient city of Rizani to explore its markets. This evening, the trip ends in Merzouga, where we will spend the night in a hotel on the edge of the desert dunes.
day 5: visit the desert and camel trek to the desert camp
Today, after breakfast, we head to a checkpoint in the Merzouga desert. On arrival, we change our SUV for a camel (optional). Let an expert beauty guide you and explore the region around Arj Al-Shabibi. It takes approximately 90 minutes to reach the camp. Once there, we enjoy the sunset over the dunes. At dusk, dinner served by the fireplace. Night in traditional Berber tents under the desert sky.
Day 6: Merzouga Desert – Todra – Dades
We woke up early this morning to watch the sunrise over the dunes before arriving at a local hotel to relax and have breakfast. Then we will head to Todra George via Rizani and Tinghir. The tallest and narrowest pass in Morocco. After lunch in the gorges, we cross Dades. We will stop to take advantage of the geological feature known locally as “monkey fingers.” We spend the night in Dades this evening.
day 7: Dades Gorges – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
Today’s private tour continues with a trip to El Majouna Castle, Ouarzazate, known as “African Hollywood.” Here we can visit the local film studio and the Kasbah (Fortaleza). Then we go to Ait Ben Haddou to visit the local Kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco, and the UNESCO World Heritage site. We continue the High Atlas to Marrakech, where we will spend the night.
Day 8: Marrakech Tour
Today is entirely in Marrakech. You will explore the main attractions of the city, including the famous Jemaa El Fna square, the Koutoubia mosque, markets, palaces, and museums. We will also explore parts of the city such as Kellys, the Lighthouse Gardens, and the Majorelle Museum. After lunch at a local restaurant, you have the option of exploring the city at your leisure. Return to Jemaa El Fna Square for dinner at one of the many food stalls, or perhaps a hammam or both. Before returning to your hotel/riad in Marrakech.
Day 9: Marrakech – Essaouira (day trip)
